Privacy Policy

Cana is a prayer app made by Really Broke Ventures ("Cana", "we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect through the Cana mobile app and the canaprayer.com website, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect only what the app needs to work, we do not run ads, and we never sell your information.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and the name you choose to go by. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email and name from them; we never see your password.
- Content you create. Prayers you write, notes of encouragement you leave, circles you create or join, and friendships you form. Prayer content can be deeply personal; we treat it that way. It is visible only to the people you choose: a circle, specific friends, everyone on Cana if you share it openly, or no one but you if you keep it private.
- Device information for notifications. If you turn on notifications, we store a push token for your device so we can deliver them. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
- Waitlist email. If you sign up for early access on our website, we collect the email address you enter.
- Basic technical logs. Like most services, our infrastructure records basic request logs (such as IP address and timestamps) to keep the service secure and reliable.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your contacts, your location, or advertising identifiers. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
How we use your information
- To run the app: showing your prayers to the people you shared them with, delivering notifications you asked for, and keeping your account working.
- To keep the community safe: reviewing content that is reported and enforcing our community guidelines.
- To write to you about early access if you joined the waitlist.
We never sell your information, and we never use the content of your prayers for advertising or marketing of any kind.
Who can see your prayers
Visibility is always your choice. A private prayer is visible only to you. A circle prayer is visible to that circle. A prayer asked of specific friends is visible to those friends. A prayer shared with everyone is visible to Cana users, and if you choose to post anonymously your name is not shown with it. If you create a share link for a prayer, anyone who has that link can read that one prayer on the web; you can turn a share link off at any time from the app.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run Cana, each of which processes data only on our behalf:
- Supabase hosts our database and authentication.
- Expo delivers push notifications.
- Apple and Google provide optional sign-in.
- Cloudflare hosts this website.
- Formspree receives waitlist signups from this website.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings inside the app. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, your prayers, your notes, and your memberships. If you want your waitlist email removed, or you need help with deletion, write to us at the address below.
Security
Your data is encrypted in transit, access to it is restricted by row-level security rules in our database, and we limit who and what can read it to the minimum the app needs.
Children
Cana is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. Most of these you can exercise directly in the app; for anything else, email us and we will help.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we will update this page and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
